Location & Historical Background
Vouliagmeni is located in the southern suburbs of Attica, between Voula and Vari, approximately 20 km from the center of Athens. The area is renowned for its coastal beauty and pristine beaches, many of which are awarded Blue Flags for their water quality. Its coastline stretches from Agios Nikolaos Pallon, through Megalo Kavouri, and ends in the small coves beneath Lake Vouliagmeni, in the area of Faskomilia.

Despite being a seaside location, Vouliagmeni features rich vegetation and green infrastructure. The area offers numerous parks, pedestrian paths, playgrounds, gardens, and recreational areas. Everyday life in Vouliagmeni centers around Agiou Panteleimonos Street, which is lined with shops, cafés, restaurants, and ice cream parlors—especially busy during the summer months. The area is quiet, safe, and family-oriented. For nightlife, there are restaurants and seasonal clubs that operate mainly in summer.
Transportation & Accessibility
Vouliagmeni is primarily served by bus lines connecting it to Voula, Glyfada, Vari, and the center of Athens:

Bus 122 (Ano Glyfada – Voula – Vari – Varkiza – Vouliagmeni): Covers the entire coastal zone, linking Vouliagmeni with Glyfada and other key neighborhoods in South Attica.

Bus 117 (Glyfada – Vouliagmeni – Vari): Frequent and convenient, ideal for daily commuting and reaching the tram.

Bus 115 (Glyfada – Vouliagmeni): Connects Vouliagmeni with the Glyfada tram station, allowing onward access to central Athens (Syntagma).
Additionally, Vouliagmeni is easily accessible via the Poseidonos Coastal Avenue, which connects to Piraeus and Syntagma by car or taxi/ride-hailing services. Although there is no metro line, the integration with Glyfada, Voula, and the tram network ensures reasonable access, particularly for those working in southern or southeastern Attica.
Parking
Unlike more central suburbs, Vouliagmeni offers good parking conditions. Streets are less densely populated, and most residences include private parking areas or ground-level garages.
Education & Infrastructure
The area is ideal for families seeking a peaceful and secure environment. It hosts public schools, playgrounds, and small educational centers. Access to larger private schools is available in neighboring areas such as Voula and Vari. Vouliagmeni also has essential medical and municipal services.
